Lucas Burkholder, a senior at Lexington High School, recently released an EP called “Unto You” in collaboration with fellow senior Trizzy Macc, available on platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon.
Work on this EP started in April of 2018 when Burkholder, Trizzy and Nathan Ramesh, another musically savvy LHS senior, began to make background tracks and lyrics. The first track on the album, “Remember,” was recorded in a single day this summer. “Remember” also features Benjamin Maffa, a 2017 LHS graduate who raps and produces music under the name Bmaffs.
In addition to the EP, Burkholder has spent his years at LHS immersing himself in music: He participates in the elite Madrigal Singers chamber choir, the Rock Paper Scissors a cappella group and his own DJ company.
Burkholder credits a family friend for introducing him to DJing and music production.
“My family friend was making beats on his computer when I was in eighth grade. I got the same software, FL studio, and I just started playing around with it,” Burkholder said.
Burkholder’s DJ business, LB Entertainment, performs at various functions including fundraisers, corporate events, bar and bat mitzvahs and proms. Most recently, Burkholder DJed Bedford High School’s Junior Prom.
Burkholder hopes to further his music career after graduation by pursuing a college major in music technology, production or audio-engineering. Additionally, Trizzy and Burkholder are in the process of creating a second album.
More information on Burkholder’s musical endeavors can be found on LBDJentertainment.com, a website he created himself.
