On Wednesday, Sept. 5, the Lexington boys soccer teams hosted their first home games of the year at Lincoln Fields.

Tickets purchased for the game supported The Outreach Program for Soccer, a community-based organization geared towards player development for children and young adults who have physical and/or intellectual challenges.

The main source of fundraising came from raffle tickets sold to locals and students at school. The raffle winners were announced at the end of the boys home opener on the same day.

Prizes for the raffle winners were gift cards generously provided by businesses in Lexington, which

included Wilson Farm, Tricon Sports, Tres Petite Creperie, Royal India Bistro, Nellios Gourmet Deli, The Upper Crust Pizzeria, Lexx Restaurant, Fruitée Yogurt, Abbott’s Frozen Custard, Rancatore’s, and One2One Bodyscapes Personal Training.

“We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the business who provided gift cards and helped make the fundraiser a success,” Knut Lundstrom Svahnqvist, senior captain of the varsity soccer team, said.

The boys were able to sell 500 raffle tickets, raising more than $1,000 for TOPS. As for the game, the Lexington varsity team beat Melrose High School, 1-3.
